Guest Lecture on "Elaborating Action Design Research" by Prof. Alan Hevner, University of South Florida

Abstract:  The use of Action Design Research (ADR) continues to grow and evolve as its applicability to research and practice becomes increasingly evident. Based on our experience in the use of ADR on a wicked research project, we present an elaboration of the ADR process model to provide an enhanced ADR iteration cycle, multiple project entry points and expanded understanding of the critical up-front activities of problem diagnosis and artifact design. This elaborated ADR process supports a more flexible yet disciplined inquiry into the initiation, conduct, reflection, and presentation of rigorous and relevant ADR research and practice. An in-depth review of selected ADR studies provides evidence for the alignment of key ADR activities in the new process model.
